With all the blockbusters coming this summer on the Xbox 360, it's easy for other games to be overshadowed. One of these, is Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, the 3rd installment in the Brothers in Arms first-person, tactical shooter franchise.
You play as Matt Baker, a Staff Sergeant in the 101st Airborne Division, who must lead his men deep into enemy territory and secure the vital asset, Eindhoven. The game follows the historical events pretty closely, with the storyline is based on Operation Market Garden, a large-scale airborne attack far behind enemy lines. Unfortunately, it didn't go to plan and many thousands died from the resulting conflicts and from being cut-off.
You have different units at your disposal, such as fire, bazooka and mortar crews, which you can control to help achieve your goal. Small details such as hand movements for giving orders and your teams reaction to events, for example they will whisper if they believe they've been seen, helps increase the realism. A few glitches have been reported on the AI side and in general the gameplay is noted as average, but it's the storyline that really drives this game. If you enjoy WWII themed games and looking for something to emerse yourself in, you should get a kick out of this one.
Metacritic Score: 77
