Mega Friday Release Roundup

Today marks the start of the holiday season AAA line-up - and it starts off with a bang. Fable 2, Far Cry 2 and the 'wet-your-pants' Dead Space make their way into South African stores.

Fable 2
I've already shared the bad news that the Collectors Edition has been delayed until next week. Luckily, the Standard Edition will still make its appearance as expected. Fable 2 is set 500 years after the original, and in a sense, the gameplay has had the same advancements. Because it can be considered a casual RPG game, with large bouts of action, this game will appeal to a large audience. I must be honest, I'm not a major RPG fan... just try ask me what I think of Mass Effect. I think what Fable does over other RPGs, is always ensuring your experience is entertaining, light-hearted, and most of all has the ability to draw you into its world. If you haven't picked it up from my last few sentances, I'm saying go out and buy this. It's too good to miss!

Far Cry 2
Simply put, Far Cry 2 takes shooters onto a whole new level. Set in an african setting, you are thrust into the middle of a raging conflict between 2 factions, with the intent of killing the catalyst for this conflict - "The Jackal". You can use jeeps, boats and even hang gliders to move around in the 50km2 open world. Taking a lead from games such as GTA IV, you can interact with anything within the world, and of cause, alter it. In true Far Cry style, the graphics are amazing and the multiplayer side will be great fun. The only downside is that there's no co-op mode, but the single player is just so good, it's another one not to miss!

Dead Space
The creepy-as-hell survival horror/action game, has increased sales in adult diapers by 215% *. The story starts off with you and your team responding to a distress call on a mining ship, expecting a mechanical failure. When you arrive though, things are obviously worse, as no one can be found on a ship which should contain over 1,000 habitants. You soon find out that an "alien artifact" has led to people being infected and turning into Necromorphs. These aren't just your normal creepy aliens. They have the ability to mutate and change, and even learn from how you attack and kill them. It's dark, you're all alone, and the Necromorphs aren't your average enemy. Plenty of violence and gore, along with intuitive gameplay makes this another, not to be missed!

* Ok, I just made that up. But I wouldn't be surprised
