Apache: Air Assault set to tear up the sky this Spring

Apache: Air Assault

Helicopter sim fans have been left out in the cold for far too long, I say, and it seems Activision agrees, since the publisher has just announced Apache: Air Assault, putting the player in the cockpit of multiple variations of deadly Apache attack helicopters as they do battle across the worlds most volatile warzones.

The fight sim will feature 16 multi-stage missions involving air and ground strike operations in Africa, Middle East and the jungles of Central America, and will playout in both an arcade mode, for those who like to keep things simple and easily accessible, as well as a Realistic mode for the hardcore sim fans. A two player co-op campaign option sounds like a blast too, with one player filling in as the pilot and the other as co-pilot (who probably has to make the tea and so on). Once you're done with the single-player you can head into the competitive online multiplayer modes, with Team Deathmatch, Ground Attack, Capture the LZ, and Ground Strike on offer.

“No games on next-gen consoles have been dedicated to helicopter combat simulation, but that is about to change this autumn”, said Activision Publishing's David Oxford. “Apache: Air Assault offers fun for diehard military enthusiasts and flight sim fans as well as gamers who just want to blow stuff up.”

Apache: Air Assault is currently under development at Gaijin Entertainment, and is scheduled to take to the air this spring.
