A week or so ago the gaming press was awash with speculation about leaked footage of some sort of cute golf game featuring Xbox Avatars. Most assumed this was Microsoft jumping on the Wii Sports bandwagon, with its bright colours and bobbleheaded golfers, but thanks to a recent post on Neogaf, we now know the game in question is in fact Avatar Golf, an indie game from the developer, Barkers Crest Studio.
Avatar Golf is the sequel to Easy Golf, and is one of the many promising indie titles in this year's Dream Build Play competition, where Barkers Crest Studio will be hoping to win themselves cash prizes, or the all important XBLA publishing deal.
Check out the feature list below, along with the DBP 2009 trailer and screenshots:
- Play golf as your Avatar or choose a random Avatar for variety.
- 6 uniquely themed 18-hole courses for a total of 108 holes of virtual golf.
- 8 player online
- 4 player local multiplayer
- Create courses in the easy-to-use course designer then share your courses with friends over Xbox Live
- Rain and Snow weather conditions
- Player Statistics and Course Records
- New ball flight camera, ball flight trail, and “Ball In Hole” avatar reactions give the game a more fun, personalized, and exciting feel.
