Battlefield 1943

EA has announced Battlefield 1943, a World War II shooter featuring the same engine as Battlefield: Bad Company, 24 player multiplayer and distributed over Xbox Live. Developed by Bad Company developers, DICE, Battlefield 1943 will have players battling in aerial dog fights and intense trench combat in three tropical locations: Wake Island, Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima.

Battlefield 1943 is a new take on a blast from the past classic coming to life with brand new technology that we're eager to get into players hands.

Let me get this straight... a WWII shooter based on a PC classic, with a massive multiplayer element, great looking graphics, and all downloadable via Xbox Live? Who else thinks that sounds awesome?!

It will be interesting to see how they price this title, as it will likely exceed the current arcade size limitations. Expect to find out nearer to Battlefield 1943's release this winter (June/July).
