Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Limited Edition details announced

EA DICE has dished out the details on the Limited Edition of the upcoming Battlefield: Bad Company 2. If you're picturing a huge box filled with military regalia, cloth maps, a shiny helmet and so on, you are about to be just as disappointed as I was. Instead of actual collectible goodies, DICE has thought it wise to include a handful of exclusive in-game items. That's right, imaginary guns and things.

We're in a world where people are packing increasingly over the top extras in their Special Limited Collectors Edition things, and they are doing that for a reason: People buy them. When I first heard that Modern Warfare 2's Prestige Edition came with a set of night vision goggles, I thought it was ridiculous. And then I pre-ordered my copy. That's how gamers' brains work, but the brains behind this 'special' edition of Bad Company 2 seem to have missed the point completely.

DICE are still calling Battlefield: Bad Company 2 the best-in-class online vehicle warfare experience, but when it comes to the most desirable collectors' items, it's sitting right at the back of the class.

The good news is that the Limited Edition is going to be sold at the same price as the standard edition. The bad news is that we're unlikely to see it in South Africa with Xbox LIVE not being officially supported.
