Xbox Gaming in South Africa

I hope the "Bad Company 2 multiplayer is teh awesome" scribbled all over your weekend calendar is in pencil, because EA has scheduled server downtime on all platforms this weekend for their popular modern military shooter.

According to the official Battlefield Blog, there will be scheduled maintenance today, Friday, 12 March at 8AM GMT (or 10AM South African time) for 4 hours, and then again on Saturday, 13 March also starting at 8AM GMT, but for an as yet unspecified period of time.

So why the need to upgrade the servers? Well, according to EA the servers have been pretty damn busy, just have a look at the following stats collected over only one week:

• The 4 different soldier types have gathered a score of more than 34 Billion.
• There's been more than 400M kills made.
• 1.3M roadkills.
• Squads and Teams have assisted each other to 6.2 Billion points.

The good news is that hopefully once the new hardware has been installed we shouldn't have anymore server problems. Well, that's the idea anyways.
