Battlefield: Bad Company 2 singleplayer campaign details emerge

We've finally got a taste of what to expect from the Battlefield: Bad Company 2's singleplayer experience, thanks to a rather gripping gameplay trailer [below] and developer interview fresh from Gametrailers TV.

In the interview with Bad Company 2 senior producer, Patrick Bach, it was revealed that the story will start in Alaska, with the Russians up to no good... apparently the old Soviet boys are encroaching on the US border from South America, which is making the yanks understandably on-edge. Played once again through the eyes of Private Preston Marlowe, good old B Company will travel through the jungles of South America, the snowy slopes of Alaska and numerous other exotic locations around the globe. The backdrops on show here are simply stunning.

If you are wary of high-energy shooters and their 'live fast, die young' attitude to campaign length, you'll be pleased to hear that the single-player mode clocks in at around 10 hours. The sand-box nature of the game should keep gamers going even longer, with different ways to tackle each objective.

I don't know about you, but March 2010 has just been circled in my diary with a big "Buy BF:BC2" scribbled across it. It's going to be huge.
