2K Games has announced new downloadable content for BioShock 2, with Minerva's Den set to expand the single-player mode with a new playable character in a self-contained narrative.
The DLC will include new high-tech weaponry and plasmids, which will come in handy while trying to take care of the new, more powerful Splicers, upgraded Security Bots, and a new Big Daddy, while teaming up with Brigid Tenenbaum to "unravel a dictator's stranglehold" in Rapture Central Computing.
"Minerva's Den is a substantial addition that will give players more of what they're looking for: more story, more narrative, more gameplay and more of Rapture," said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. "The core team has created an exciting product that further enhances the mystery and allure of the world of Rapture. Minerva's Den will be a fitting conclusion to the BioShock 2 saga."
It's good to see that some developers still have something to offer single-player gamers these days, in an age where DLC for first-person shooters usually equals map pack after map pack for the deathmatch crowd.
Pricing and a release date are still to be announced.
