Ignition Entertainment and Zombie Studios have announced that they are hard at work on Blacklight: Tango Down, a dowloadable "AAA-quality" military shooter under development for the Xbox LIVE Arcade, set for release later this year.

Using the old faithful Unreal Engine 3 to bring its near future sci-fi cityscape to life, Blacklight: Tango Down is said to be all about customization, with players able to modify both their characters and their weapons as they blast their way through the various game modes, which of course includes multiplayer.

Ajay Chadha, Head of Worldwide Publishing at Ignition Entertainment recons it's going to "change the way gamers view the possibilities of downloadable content because it will offer shooter fans the top quality, deep content and exciting experience that they are used to finding in a retail product but in a downloadable package."

It's an ambitious title, but with military shooters topping the sales charts more often than not, it could well pay off.

Check out the screenshots and teaser trailer below for a first look at Blacklight: Tango Down.
