Calling all vault hunters: the 4-player shooting and looting franchise by Gearbox Software is back, with Borderlands 2 taking players on an all-new adventure on Pandora on 18 September in North America, and 21 September internationally.

"The addictive gameplay and shooting and looting mayhem of the first Borderlands is back and better than ever in Borderlands 2, taking the franchise to an entirely new level," said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. "With more guns, more enemies, more missions, an engaging story and all-new characters, Borderlands 2 promises to bring a new era to gaming this fall."

Gearbox Software promises a "bigger, better and more badass" game with Borderlands 2, as four new characters - Salvador, Maya, Axton and Zero - come to together to take down Handsome Jack and his corrupt Hyperion Corporation.

Along with the release date (and a brand new trailer), publisher 2K Games revealed the Borderlands 2 Premiere Club - a pre-order incentive which gives gamers access to the downloadable Gearbox Gun Pack, a Golden Key and the Vault Hunter’s Relic DLC:

  • Gearbox Gun Pack - A collection of unique guns to help players begin their journey on Pandora.
  • Golden Key - An in-game item used to unlock a rare item in the mysterious Golden Sanctuary Loot Chest.
  • Vault Hunter’s Relic - An in-game item that boosts players’ gear-hunting fortune while playing solo or teaming up with friends.
