The surprise announcement that the newest Borderlands DLC, The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, was arriving as early as today was the equivalent of Christmas coming early for many. Unfortunately, in just as startling news, it seems the new DLC has been delayed. While Gearbox hasn't (yet) issued any official statement on the matter, Xbox Community Manager Graeme Boyd has tweeted what seems to be a confirmation of the delay:
So looks like the new Borderlands DLC will be hitting tomorrow after all - keep an eye on the man himself over at @GeneralKnoXX
He could of course just be confused by time zones and be referring to a tweet yesterday on the official General Knoxx twitter account, but with it being this late in the day (long after the usual cut off time for new content on XBLM), a delay seems the most likely scenario.
[UPDATE 2] The DLC has been released onto Xbox LIVE. It's currently only available through the dashboard (Try: Game Marketplace -> Game Library -> Borderlands -> Downloads -> Title -> Secret Armory), but expect a new post once it hits Xbox.com.
[UPDATE] Word comes from the offical General Knoxx twitter account that "troops will deploy today if all goes to plan", which means a release is still on the cards for today. Then again, it's unclear whether "today" falls into our timezone, and not just for the US region.
In the meantime, here's a list of features to keep those tears rolling:
- Almost twice the size of The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned
- A brand new class of ultra-rare/kick-ass weapons
- New vehicles including one that allows for four players to drive and inflict damage and deal out death
- An exciting story line that picks-up where the original game left off
- Almost 30 new villain types
- A level cap increase to 61
- More difficult villains and smarter AI
Of course, it might still show up later tonight, since it's still practically dawn over in Americaland. When it does arrive, it will be 1.66GB in size, priced at 800 MSP, and of course, we'll be sure to let you know of its arrival!
