Bungie: Confirmation of MMO was meant as a joke

Humour is a funny thing. What might seem like a joke to some may be miss-interpreted as fact by an entire global gaming community and spread across the internet like wildfire. Such is the case with the Bungie’s supposed confirmation that they're developing a "massively multiplayer action game".

In a statement on their official site, Bungie attempts to clarify the situation by pointing out that lead network engineer David Aldridge's statements on the subject were misinterpreted and were meant to be a joke intended as a play on the pre-GDC "WoW in Space" rumour.  He might want to work on his presentation in future since it appears that himself and the people at Bungie were the only people on the planet who were ‘in’ on this particular joke.

It's worth noting though, that nowhere in the statement does Bungie flatout deny the MMO rumours, so don’t be surprised if this whole story changes again.
