Bungie: ODST disc errors 'not widespread'

With complaints popping up all over Bungie's forum about ODST campaign disc read errors rendering the game unplayable, the developer has finally issued a public statement claiming the problem isn't really all that prevalent.

Talking to Eurogamer, they've said, "We are aware of a very small number of people who are reporting they can't play the game. We are looking into it, but at this point it doesn't appear to be a widespread issue."

By all accounts, the problem seems to be isolated to older Elite console models.

In the meantime, if you're one of those affected by this, Gameswire suggests installing the game to your Xbox hard drive instead. Sort of obvious. Unlike Halo 3, of course, this one's been optimised for HDD streaming.
