Finish the fight. Again. Although, technically, we're actually starting the fight this time. Once you've wrapped your head around the dizzying daring of it all, you'll be pleased to know you'll still be finishing-starting fights for a while yet. Despite moving over to Activision, Bungie will continue to support Halo: Reach with post-release content.
“I think it’s safe to assume that we’re probably going to follow the type of model we have in the past, which would leave you to believe it’s probably multiplayer-centric,” said Bungie’s Community Director Brian Jarrard, over at Gamescom last week [via VG247]. “It’s super-important to us that we keep that pedigree; we have to support the game, we have to support our community. We do have a team of people that are dedicated to remaining focused on Reach for some length of time. I don’t know exactly what that’s going to entail yet. We’re still working through that."
He added, of course, that the developer will eventually hand over support duties to Microsoft's new Halo studio 343 Industries, but assured fans that "both sides are equally vested in making sure that the game experience and the community experience is still top notch".
Speaking of the community, Jarrard had a few things to say about that at Microsoft's PR Play Day last week. Talking to XG247, he said that, "For new maps there is certainly a way to take the greatest things the community makes and fuse them into the matchmaking experience," explaining that this would probably involve a dedicated playlist of community Forge-created content. "From there we hope to move the most solid content over to the more formal/official matchmaking offerings," he added.
Halo: Reach will be available locally from 14 September.
