Halo creators Bungie have confirmed that their next project is a "massively multiplayer action game".

The confirmation came from Bungie lead network engineer David Aldridge during a panel session at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, in which Aldridge revealed that, contrary to recent rumours, the game is not "WoW in space".

Little else is known about the as yet unnamed project, but it's likely to be the multiplatform "big action game universe" hinted at in the Bungie/Activision deal.
