What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, unless it happens during CES 2011 at the Las Vegas Convention Centre, in which case it will be strewn across the interwebs in a matter of minutes. Last night Microsoft's CEO Steve Ballmer took to the stage to deliver their keynote address at this years International Consumer Electronics Show, during which he laid out a few figures to impress the gathered masses.
According to Mr. Ballmer, things are still looking rosy in camp Microsoft, with the Xbox 360 console having surpassed the 50 million milestone for units shipped, an impressive figure in anyone's book. The number of people with Xbox LIVE accounts has also shot up rather dramatically, going from 25 million in November last year up to 30 million.
On the Kinect front, Microsoft will surely be more than happy to see that the motion sensor controller has surpassed expectations by selling 8 million since launch, exceeding Microsoft's own predictions by a full 3 million units.
All in all that's a lot of 'millions' being bandied about, which translates into a lot of dollars in the Microsoft coffers.
