Update: Bulletstorm has been officially announced, leaving Gears of War 3 to be announced tonight (or early tomorrow morning for SA folk).
Original Story: The internet is a cruel, cruel place. Especially when you're trying to keep a secret and everyone around you is happily leaking it to the world. It's one of those weeks for Epic Games' Cliff Bleszinski.
It all started when a "US Publishing Source" leaked the Gears of War 3 announcement date, saying it would be revealed on 8 April. Although the actual announcement was recently delayed to Monday 12 April, that didn't stop a Microsoft employee from prematurely confirming Gears of War 3 to the whole world via the Xbox 360 dashboard. Luckily, CliffyB had an ace up his sleeve, and tweeted that there would actually be two game announcements:
NEWSFLASH: Two announcements about two upcoming games on Monday. BOOM!
"Well, at least it's not a total stuff up," an annoyed CliffyB must have thought. Well, no Cliff. Actually it is. Because sure enough the second game announcement has been revealed as People Can Fly's upcoming shooter, Bulletstorm, thanks to the recent GameInformer's May cover.
People Can Fly's Adrian Chmielarz summed up this week's events quite nicely:
Crap. No more Monday surprise. This thing's leaking all over the place.
We'll know for sure on Monday, but it looks like the internet won this round.
