Codemasters has unveiled its mysterious new first person shooter as Bodycount. The project is currently under development at their Guildford studio with Black co-creator Stuart Black at the helm.
According to the press release Bodycount is more than just another FPS with destructible environments, promising genre-defining gunplay set in the midst of a global power struggle.
"Our core focus for Bodycount is to deliver best-in-class gun play that places the gamer at the heart of the experience," said Executive Producer Tom Gillo. "From the jaw-dropping devastation caused by firing into enemies or shredding the world around you in a hail of bullets, Bodycount will crystallise that moment of pulling the trigger into an exhilarating sensory overload of action."
"Best-in-class" is a pretty lofty goal, when you consider the class we're talking about here is filled with the likes of Modern Warfare 2, Bad Company 2, and by that time even Halo: Reach. Still, we'll keep an eye on this one to see how things progress as we approach its early 2011 release.
