Early impressions from hands-on Kinect sessions tagged Dance Central as one of the titles to watch, which should be no surprise considering it comes from the people who created Guitar Hero and the Rock Band franchise. If busting a move was one of the things you had in mind to try when you pick up your very own Kinect unit, you'll be glad to know that Dance Central has been on the receiving end some of the most positive reviews of the launch calalogue, and we've rounded up a few scores to prove it...
- 1Up: "It's important to understand that my motivation for playing Dance Central has absolutely nothing to do with unlocking character outfits or alternate venues. All I want to do is zoom-a-zoom-zoom-zoom and a poom-poom. You know, just shake my rump." - A-
- Eurogamer: "...there are hours of fun on offer here for serious solo players and groups of drunk idiots alike." - 8/10
- Gameinformer: "Dance Central shines among Kinect’s otherwise bleak launch lineup and is undoubtedly a step in the right direction for the hardware." - 8.75/10
- IGN: "Although it's disappointing to see so few features and unlocks included, the actual song selection, dance routines, and the accuracy of the Kinect implementation is what makes Dance Central worth a look." - 8/10
- Joystiq: "Ultimately, Dance Central's greatest shortcoming is that it can't actually teach you how to dance. But, it's greatest triumph is that -- against all odds -- it will make you want to." - 4/5
- Metacritic: 84/100
It looks like Harmonix's first foray into the world of controller-free gaming is off to a good start. Look out for Dance Central when it launches alongside Kinect in SA next week.
