Can't wait for Dead Space 2? Well, now Dead Space Ignition can fill the dead space (get it) between now and the sequel's January 2011 launch. It's one of those "Choose Your Own Adventure" interactive narrative-style games that we haven't actually really seen very much of since, like, Zork.
You are inside a space station. The lights don't seem to be working properly. There's gore smeared all over the walls.
You have the distinct feeling you're a pawn in some reckless, self-interested, and thoroughly nefarious corporate scheme.
Suddenly, the dead guy down the passage shambles to its feet. It's a Necromorph!

Dead Space Ignition basically acts as a prequel to Dead Space 2, detailing the events leading up to and surrounding the Necromorph outbreak on the Sprawl station. It's written by Daredevil and Wasteland guy, Anthony Johnston.
“Dead Space Ignition is the first of many exciting game extensions we have planned for the launch of Dead Space 2,” said Steve Papoutsis, Executive Producer on the Dead Space franchise. “The interactive comic-style game will give Dead Space fans a unique perspective on the events leading up to Dead Space 2, and will also introduce the storyline to a brand-new audience of gamers.”
As well as the CYOA bits, the game also features three hacking mini-games - Hardware Crack, Trace Route and System Override - and four unique endings. Completing each ending, moreover, unlocks stuff for Dead Space 2, including an exclusive suit.
Dead Space Ignition is set to arrive on Xbox LIVE Arcade sometime during our spring 2010.
