For those of you who haven't finished the first Dead Space because your only gaming time is at night... when it's dark and spooky, then you'd better toughen up and get through it, because if the first batch of reviews for the sequel Dead Space 2 are anything to go on, you don't want to miss out on what is looking like an early candidate for game of the year:
- GameTrailers: "The multiplayer is a disappointment, but it's a much more accessible game that won't leave fans in a lurch. Pick it up, turn down the lights, turn up the sound, and check your nerves at the door." - 9/10
- Gamespot: "a terrific game, with a campaign that simultaneously leaves you satisfied and eager for more, and intense multiplayer that gives you a great reason to keep coming back to this terrifying universe." - 8.5/10
- Giant Bomb: "Dead Space 2 expands the scope and intensity of its sci-fi horror action without stifling its tense atmosphere or fiddling too much with its nearly perfect third-person shooting." - 5/5
- IGN: "... rewarding combat, shocking enemies, and huge set pieces before tossing it into a world that's truly creepy and scary." - 9/10
- Joystiq: "Dead Space 2 does not stray far from its gross, fleshy roots, but it still manages to provide one of the best action horror experiences available." - 4/5
- Metacritic: 91/100
It seems Visceral Games has once again set the benchmark for survival horror action games. If being scared senseless is your idea of a good time, look out for this one when it hits local stores this Friday, 28 January.
