It was pretty much the RPG event of 2009, so it was also pretty much inevitable that Dragon Age: Origins was going to be getting more further on. More's turned out to be a full expansion, Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening, a (somewhat controversial) $40 add-on and carries on where Origins left off.
In an interview with IGN, Bioware Online Producer, Fernando Melo, talks it all up, explaining that the villainous Darkspawn are still lurking around Ferelden (gasp!), only they've now pitched camp in a totally new bit of land called Amaranthine. Meanwhile, rumour grows of a New! Improved! sort of Darkspawn that talks and everything, known only as the Architect. As the new commander of the Grey Wardens, players will have to march off into this uncharted territory and kill stuff, and probably kill the Architect too after some convoluted, desperately significant conversation full of disingenuous metaphors about the human condition.
There's a character level cap increase, and although its specific number hasn't yet been decided, Melo reckons it will "probably end up in the mid to high 30s". Preexisting characters will also be able to re-spec their stats completely with the aid of some mystical tome, but players will be able to create an entirely new character automatically rolled into a level between 17-20 if they're bored of their rubbish old elf.
Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening is set for release on 16 March 2010, though we're still awaiting feedback from EA South Africa as to whether we'll see the expansion locally.
