Remeber back when all we could talk about was how many bits our consoles had? During the Great Console Wars it was all about 32-bit this, 64-bit that, but at the end of the day it was Sega and their Dreamcast console which suffered most. Now Sega has announced that a number of classic titles from the ill fated console are being remade for digital release on the Xbox LIVE Arcade.
To commemorate the 11th anniversary of the Dreamcast's US launch, Sega will be bringing Sonic Adventure to your Xbox 360, followed by Crazy Taxi (no, not a Joburg traffic sim) sometime shortly thereafter. It's unknown which other titles are in the line-up, but we are assured that there is more to come.
“The Dreamcast is fondly remembered by a large community of dedicated fans as a console that was ahead of its time in terms of graphics, quality and online gaming” commented Haruki Satomi, VP of Digital Business at SEGA of America and SEGA Europe. “There are few things that are more requested from us than making Dreamcast classics available for download in today’s digital market place. We’re very excited to begin offering gamers our beloved Dreamcast titles again on the current console systems.”
Those with a penchant for retro gaming can look forward to seeing these classics in high resolution with surround sound in spring.
