Fallout 3, Resident Evil 5, Fable II and Gears of War 2 were in the spotlight at Microsoft's E3 Conference and it's hard to say which gave the best impression. Fallout 3 looked amazing and Todd Howard from Bethesda announced that there will be substantial download content, exclusive to the xbox. What was common in the other games, other than great graphics and gameplay, is the increase in co-operative game modes. For example in Resident Evil 5 you will depend on your partner to literally give you a leg up to get past certain obstacles. Gears of War 2 is all about bigger and better, so it has a 5 player co-op mode called 'Horde' (sounds like fun!), and Fable II will also enjoy co-operative play too. Fable 2 will be unique in the way you join games, as instead of joining lobbies, your friends will be represented as orbs within the game. You can then go to an orb, and invite them directly to your game. This takes away the need to fiddle around in lobbies which inevitably seem to take more time to organise than playing the actual game.
All in all, it looks like the end of year will be fill of great titles to choose from. Below are the announced release dates and some screenshots:
- Resident Evil 5: 13th March 2009
- Fable 2: October 2008
- Gears of War 2: 7th November 2008
