Another year, another Need for Speed sequel. After confirming Shift 2 in August, EA has officially announced Shift 2 Unleashed, a sequel to the popular simulation focused racing game from last year, with developer Slightly Mad Studios once again at the helm.
“SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED is redefining immersive racing by blending the rush of tearing up the track at unbelievable speeds with the emotional experience of competitive battle,” said Marcus Nilsson, Executive Producer, SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED. “We are also working closely with real-world performance drivers to ensure that SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED captures their experience and becomes the benchmark in authentic racing action.”
The game is set to feature a new rendering engine with "a massive graphics overhaul", as well as incorporating the recently introduced Autolog mode - a sort of social network for racers - into the multiplayer mode.
Expect more details as we gear up to its release in "Spring 2011" (Q2).
