Ezio off to Rome in the next Assassin's Creed

Assassin's Creed

Now that provincial Italy is rid of those nasty Templars, Ezio's packing up his stuff and heading off to Rome, according to Kotaku. All roads lead there or something, as the saying goes. According to Ubisoft, it's all about  striking "directly at the heart of the Templar Order." Does this mean invading the Vatican and stabbing the Pope then? I predict an Achievement for scaling St Peter's Basilica, and possible future censure from the Catholic church.

It's not yet clear whether this is going to be a fully-fledged sequel or some sort of expansion of Assassin's Creed 2, however. The new Assassin's Creed will for the first time in the franchise's history include a multiplayer mode and is currently scheduled for release before March 2011, with a Christmas release not entirely unlikely.
