We haven't heard much about a follow up to Far Cry 2 since narrative designer, Patrick Redding, mentioned that it was in the 'preliminary stages' during Gamescom '08. Now, Ubisoft scriptwriter, Kevin Shortt, let slip that Far Cry 3 is in development, and it's looking 'pretty exciting', according to a report by CVG.
The game's setting is also in question. An inside source at Ubisoft has spoken to Inc Gamers saying, "We're still in very early development and we have no idea where it's going to be set, but I'm pretty sure that it won't be in Africa", which is contrary to remarks made by Redding back at Gamescom '08 which stated, "There are still things we want to do with the African setting, and I think it's safe to say we'll continue to explore it". He did go on to say that the team is also looking at Antarctica as an option, so right now it's anyone's guess.
