This is becoming a bit of a trend now - Electronic Arts has announced that their veteran FIFA franchise has scored a hattrick, becoming the fastest selling sports game of all time for the third year in a row, as well as the biggest game launch of the year so far, edging out Gears of War 3.
Besides the hugely impressive figure of 3.2 million units shifted across all platforms since launch, the mega-publisher also revealed that 1 October was the biggest day in EA Sports' history for online gaming, logging a total of 10 million EA Sports game sessions. Of those 10 million, a massive 8 million sessions were for FIFA 12.
If we were being particularly cynical we could point out that while FIFA 11 saw a 29% increase in launch sales over its predecessor, FIFA 12 is only 23% up on last year's edition. Still, 3.2 million sales in a matter of days is pretty damn impressive.
