Update: It looks like Maher was slightly off on the date. According to Xbox.com news, the first Alan Wake DLC is actually arriving one day earlier, on 27 July.
Original Story: According to a recent tweet by Xbox LIVE Editor Daniel Maher, the first downloadble add-on for Alan Wake, entitled The Signal, is set to arrive on 28 July 27 July.
The DLC is said to provide an alternative perspective on certain events, rather than extending the main story. Speaking to CVG, Remedy's Oskari Hakkinen explains:
We are doing some game add-ons like we've announced. These will be standalone episodes that will bridge between season one and hopefully the possibility of doing a season two. Season one - just to be clear - is a full package and you'll unravel the mystery and reach all your goals. The game add-ons aren't telling more of the story, so to speak. It'll give you a different perspective on the things you've done on season one and then trying to set you up for the possible things you're going to do in season two.
Season two, of course, being the sequel to Alan Wake, which has reportedly already been plotted out.
The first DLC will be free to all new game owners with a once-off redeemable token, but of course, those tokens were removed from South African copies of Alan Wake, so we'll have to pay for it. No price has been announced yet, however.
