Gears of War 3 is official! Again! Properly this time! Quick, everyone look totally surprised.
As everybody on the planet already knew was going to happen, Cliff Bleszinski revealed the game on Jimmy Fallon's show last night, alongside a decidedly creepy trailer showing off the series finale's new armour, women, and beards. And massive, Cthulhu-style Lambent Locust.
"When we released 'Gears of War' more than three years ago, we set out to tell the world an unforgettable story of bravery and sacrifice in the face of insurmountable odds, and a year from now, players will get the chance to experience the final chapter in the story of Marcus Fenix and his companions in Delta Squad," said Cliff Bleszinski, design director at Epic Games. "This is definitely the biggest and most dramatic chapter yet in the 'Gears of War' saga, and we can't wait to deliver it."
Microsoft is also throwing a COG party in the form of new Gears of War 3 Avatar stuff, which features COG gear for both male and female Avatars. The new items will be available starting April 20 on Xbox LIVE Marketplace.
Gears of War 3 is set to officially release on 8 April 2011 for Europe (and South Africa).
