Activision has officially announced GoldenEye 007: Reloaded, a HD remake of the legendary Nintendo 64 shooter, currently under development at Eurocom for release later this year.
The remake will be based on an all new engine, promising fully overhauled HD visuals running at 60fps. The original campaign will be there in all its glory, along with a new "Mi6 Ops Missions" - a set of separate challenges tasking players to complete various Assault, Elimination, Stealth and Defense objectives. Gamers can also look forward to 16-player online multiplayer sessions, with "more maps, weapons, characters and game modes than ever before."
Fourteen years on, the N64 version of GoldenEye 007 is still heralded as a genre benchmark, and one of the few games to do the James Bond license justice. We will have to wait and see if this remixed version lives up to the standards set by the original when it hits retailers this spring.
