Being a connoisseur of rhythm games has always been an expensive undertaking, and that doesn't look like it's going to change any time soon. Megarom has announced the official pricing for Activision's upcoming additions to the Hero family, giving you almost too many ways to spend your hard earned cash this summer.
First up is Guitar Hero 5, the flagship title in the series, which will be available as either a stand-alone game for R599.00 or bundled with a guitar for R999.00. Next up is the more family-oriented Band Hero, stand-alone for R599,00 or the Super Bundle for a wallet damaging R2499.00. On the other end of the musical spectrum is DJ Hero, set to retail at R999.00, including the turn-table peripheral. The only pricing missing from the list is the DJ Hero Renegade Edition, which is coming to South Africa but is still awaiting pricing.
While Activision's Guitar Hero franchise has always monopolised the local rhythm game market, there is a new dog in town in the form of EA's Rock Band series, and it will be interesting to see which comes out on top when gamers vote with their cash in the coming months. I know where I'll be spending my money, how about the rest of you? Has SA had just about enough of make-believe rock 'n' roll?
