In possibly unsurprising news (given all the controversy around MW2's release), developer Infinity Ward is handing the reins over to someone else for the next iteration of Call of Duty's Modern Warfare, and rather turning their attention to something "completely new" instead, according to an article by VG247.
If that something "completely new" is a cinematic FPS with huge set pieces, a least two dramatic extractions out of exploding things, and a rapper on the voice cast, I called it first.
While it's not yet clear who is going to be taking over the Modern Warfare developer duties, "inside" sources over at VG247 claim it could be some unnamed Canadian studio, or perhaps ex-Visceral staffed, Sledgehammer Games.
Meanwhile, Treyarch's apparently working on Call of Duty: Vietnam for release in November of this year. About damn time Vietnam is used as a setting.
