Just Cause dev working on XBLA shooter, Renegade Ops

SEGA has announced that Just Cause developer Avalanche Studios is currently working on their first ever Xbox LIVE Arcade title, Renegade Ops, a downloadable co-op shooter lined up for release later this year.

Renegade Ops sees yet another madman bent on world domination, and it's up to you to stop him - either on your own; with a friend in split-screen co-op; or as part of a 4-player online commando unit. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will send you across "stunning environments using a wide variety of vehicles, from dispersing electromagnetic shock waves to the deployment of a huge Gatling gun armed to the teeth."

“A number of developers in the studio wanted to try developing a smaller digital project, so we gathered a team, built a new IP and SEGA gave us the opportunity to carry this out. The IP is all about driving or flying around blowing stuff up while playing with your friends and that to us, is a dream-project,” said Avalanche senior producer Andreas Thorsén.

Renegade Ops is still without a release date or price point, but we do know that it will be with us sometime this year.
