Konami has announced that Alien vs Predator developer Rebellion is hard at work on upcoming third-person action title NeverDead, with Konami's Shinta Nojiri (Metal Gear Solid: Acid -PSP) handling design duties.
NeverDead begins with the world under threat from a demonic plague. Centuries have passed since the world succumbed to an unforeseen shadow of evil, and a hero was made an immortal by demons. These demons have risen once again in the present day and are wreaked unrelenting mayhem, represented by destructible environments within the game. Cast as this immortal hero, the player can use regenerative powers to re-assemble his body to evade death – for he is Never Dead...
Looking at the debut trailer, there is a certain Devil May Cry-ness about it, but the promise of destructible environments and the ability for the protagonist to rebuild himself by collecting lost limbs as the battle rages on gives us hope that this could add something new to the crazy-jap-action genre. Is that a real genre? It is now.
