Crystal Dynamics is gearing up for next week's launch of Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, an isometric take on the popular adventure franchise for XBLA, and they're already letting fans know that there will be up to five downloadable packs coming out in 2010.
“DLC for us means Downloadable Lara Croft,” said Darrell Gallagher, General Manager of Crystal Dynamics. “It all begins in August with Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light releasing on XBLA and runs through to the end of the year with the additional packs we will be offering. Oh and be prepared for a few surprises.”
While announcing DLC before the game is even released isn't much of a surprise anymore, what is a surprise is the fact that the Xbox 360 version won't have the much touted online co-op at launch, with players having to wait until 28 September for a free patch - the same time it lands on PSN and Steam. Kinda defeats the whole point of a "timed exclusive". Anyways, between October and December a further five DLC packs will be released, three of which include puzzles and exploration stuff, with the other two featuring "some other well-known videogame characters". Ooooh, Marcus Fenix?! No? Ok, fine then.
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is coming out next week Wednesday, 18 August on Xbox LIVE Arcade for 1200MSP.
