Valve has confirmed that The Passing, the first DLC campaign for Left 4 Dead 2, will be released on Xbox LIVE Marketplace next month, followed shortly afterwards by a new DLC add-on for the original Left 4 Dead. Not much is known on the contents of the original L4D DLC, but it will tie together with The Passing DLC, which just so happens to feature the original Left 4 Dead cast as non-playable characters.
We do, however, know a fair amount on the new Left 4 Dead 2 campaign, thanks to Joystiq. According to their report, The Passing will include new arenas for Survival, Versus and Scavenge modes, and a new co-op challenge mode. Players will also encounter a new "uncommon common" infected, called the "Fallen Survivor". If new content for this acclaimed zombie killer sounds inconsequential, let me remind you that Valve marketing guy Doug Lombardi called The Passing "the most important campaign in the Left 4 Dead story, as all the Survivors are being called together in one campaign."
Expect a more concrete release date for both DLC packs as we head towards the "late March" release.
