Game-based movies are generally a laughing stock of the film world, right? But what if the game the movie is based on is already one of the most enthralling cinematic space sagas ever created? We might just have something to look forward to then, with BioWare's Mass Effect set for the big screen.
According to film industry blog Heat Vision, Legendary Pictures (300, The Dark Knight) has secured the rights to put together a film based on BioWare's epic trilogy, a project which is apparently "still in the early stages of development." With BioWare co-founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk, together with executive producer for the game series Casey Hudson, taking the joint role of executive producers for the film, we can at least be sure that the right people will have a hand in steering the project.
No word as to when we can expect the film to hit the big screen, but we'll keep an eye on this one as production continues.
