Danish developer Playdead has announced that their critically-acclaimed platform puzzler Limbo has sold over one million copies worldwide.

Thanks to Limbo's success - releasing to 153 countries in 9 languages across 3 platforms - the studio has now become entirely independent, paving the way for their next title (which has yet to be officially announced).

"With the success that LIMBO has achieved, we felt this was the ideal time to fully regain our independence," explained Dino Patti, Playdead CEO. "We are grateful to everyone who supported us over the past few years, and look forward to forging new partnerships that will both let us reach new heights as a studio and give our director, Arnt Jensen, room to grow creatively."

If you haven't yet, make sure you grab Limbo off the Xbox LIVE Arcade Marketplace - it's one of those games that's a must buy.
