After a 10 year hiatus, Capcom has officially announced the return of one of their most popular fighting series, with Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds.
"We are so pleased to be working with Marvel again. Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has been one of the most requested titles for us to produce by our fans," said Christian Svensson, Corporate Officer and Vice President of Strategic Planning and Business Development at Capcom. "Our Capcom development studio is creating the most epic fighting game ever developed and Marvel's input into that process has been invaluable."
The new title will feature 3D characters fighting on a 2D plane, much like the critically acclaimed Street Fighter IV title, and will be powered by Capcom's MT Framework game engine which can be seen in Resident Evil 5 and the soon to be released Lost Planet 2.
Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will include just over 30 characters from the Capcom and Marvel universes, according to Kotaku, with Wolverine, the Hulk, Iron Man, Street Fighter's Ryu, Darkstalker's Morrigan and Resident Evil's Chris Redfield already identified.
Check out the first bit of art below, along with the now official teaser trailer, and see how many characters you can identify.
Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds is set for a retail release in Spring 2011, or Autumn 2011 if you're in the southern hemisphere.
