The biggest shopping day on the US calendar, Black Friday, has proven a major success for Microsoft, with the company announcing that a massive 800,000 Xbox 360 consoles where sold in one day, totalling over 960,000 units for the week.

This makes last week the biggest ever sales week for the Xbox 360, and Microsoft are confident that these huge sales should secure an eleventh month on the top of the US console sales charts.

Besides shifting close to a million consoles, Microsoft also revealed that an impressive 750,000 Kinect sensors were sold last week - either as stand-alone units or as bundle deals - and with a holiday portfolio four times the size of last years, the motion sensor looks set for another huge Holiday season.
