Microsoft confirms Xbox 360 price drops

If you're in the UK, you'll be paying just £199.99 for an Xbox Elite console from tomorrow. That's the shiny pretty black one with the 120 GB HDD and HDMI.

“With the Christmas season right around the corner, it’s another opportunity to put the consumer centre stage with entertainment and games that everyone will enjoy,” says Neil Thompson, Senior Regional Director, Entertainment and Devices Division, Microsoft UK and Ireland. “We have a goal over the next 18 months to deliver value with amazing content and rich interactive experiences in the living room.”

The catch is, the Xbox Pro console is being phased out, the Arcade model is getting a £30 price increase to £159.99, and the Elite is no longer shipping with an HDMI cable. The bigger, better, more badass next generation of high definition gaming is now going out with no high definition cables.

The question is, what if you're in South Africa? We've sent our questions to Microsoft SA, and are waiting on their response. Expect an update by the end of the day.
