Kinect is expected to launch world wide early November, but so far Microsoft is yet to tell us just how much the motion controller is going to set us back. The end of last week saw the big players in the online retail space, Amazon and Gamestop, list the peripheral at $150, however, according to a tweet by Microsoft's Larry Hryb (aka Major Nelson), there is still no confirmed price.
"BTW, we've not announced final #Kinect Pricing yet. I'll be sure to confirm a price when we do!", Tweeted Hyrb, but whether that means the $150 price is too high, too low, or just right, Microsoft aren't saying just yet.
Closer to home, local online retailer Take2 suggests we'll pay R1,884.00 for the imported version, while it's nowhere to be seen on sites such as Kalahari.
If Microsoft do end up pricing Kinect at $99, South African gamers can expect to pay around R1,120, which will fall into most gamers' budgets. However, if the recent price tag of $150 ends up being correct, local gamers will be paying nearly R1,700 to get their hands on Kinect. Even with the promise of controller free gaming, virutal pets, and plenty of fitness games, it will be a hard sell for gamers who will be buying Kinect as an add-on peripheral.
