The internet exploded earlier today with reports that Kinect would not be launching with voice control, according to a post on MCV. However, it looks like this might just have been a case of misunderstanding, as Microsoft has now denied the claims, but made vague reference to the possibility of certain localisation issues.
“Voice control is an exciting part of the Kinect for Xbox 360 controller-free experience and we can confirm that it will be available at launch in November 2010,” says the company. “Only on Xbox 360 will you be able to navigate the Kinect Hub using your voice to control your movies, TV Shows and music. We do not have additional details to share about local voice availability at this time.”
So no south Mongolian dialect support just yet.
While it looks like voice control will be available when Kinect launches in November, there's no word on whether voice-controlled apps such as Video Kinect will actually be available to gamers to try out from day one.
