Microsoft launches Xbox LIVE Rewards programme

Xbox LIVE Rewards

Microsoft has launched the Xbox LIVE Rewards pilot programme for selected US account holders, giving participants a chance to earn free MS Points.

So, how does it work? Simple. Buy Arcade games, buy game add-ons in the Marketplace, hell, just buy a new hat for your Avatar, and you are rewarded with MS Points. Renewing your Gold membership will also score you a couple of points. In fact, just about any transaction you make on LIVE will net you some of Microsoft's funny money. If you want clarity on just how many points will be sent your way, there is a detailed list on xbox.com.

The Xbox LIVE Rewards pilot programme is scheduled to run over the next 6 months, with US account holders currently the only eligible region (as usual). The good news is that a few South African Xbox LIVE users have managed to get themselves invited, and so far there's been no reported problems. Let's hope it stays that way.

Nice! Hopefully they intend to expand the programme to more Xbox LIVE users soon.
