Update: Microsoft has since confirmed with Joystiq that the $199 New Xbox 360 Arcade replacement will launch spring 2010.
Original Story: Microsoft's motion controller Kinect will be sold separately, but we'll also see it bundled with the Xbox 360 console when it launches in November, according to an internal marketing Q&A obtained by Kotaku. US retailer Gamestop is already listing an Arcade + Kinect bundle at $299 (R3,400), and an Elite + Kinect bundle for $399 (R4,520), meaning the peripheral would cost the buyer $100 (R1,130) if bought in a bundle.
Perhaps more interesting, however, is the now confirmed rumour of a second $199 Xbox SKU (R2,250), probably more or less equivalent to the old Arcade unit. But what is it, exactly? According to an internal marketing Q&A over at Microsoft:
Q: Will you sell a $199 version of the new Xbox 360?
A: We will offer a $199 Xbox 360 this fall.
So, yeah. It's a $199 New Xbox 360, and that's all it is for the moment. Presumably, however, the wireless and/or 250 GB HDD is yanked from this one, perhaps replaced with a smaller hard drive instead.
