Activision has revealed some massive sales figures for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and as you may have expected the shooter has once again torn a Jerry Bruckheimer-shaped hole through all other entertainment launch records - grossing an astonishing $755 million in the first five days since it came out guns a'blazing.
This new record puts MW3 a hefty $125 million ahead of the previous top dog - none other than Activision's own Call of Duty: Black Ops, which was itself a million greenbacks ahead of the previous record holder Modern Warfare 2 - a record trifecta in its own right.
"With $775 million of sales of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in its first five days, Call of Duty has become the first entertainment property in history to set five-day launch records for three consecutive years across all forms of entertainment," said Activision Blizzard boss Robert Kotick. "Life-to-date retail sales for the Call of Duty franchise have exceeded $6 billion worldwide, which makes Call of Duty one of the most valuable entertainment properties in the world. We expect continued sales momentum, as reviews and audience enthusiasm suggest that this is the best Call of Duty game that we have ever made."
Thanks to the massive sales of Infinity Ward's latest shooter, Microsoft also has something to smile about, dishing out a couple of serious Xbox LIVE usage numbers, and setting two Xbox LIVE records:
