Time to get excited for the final event on this year's gaming calendar: the 2011 Spike TV's Video Game Awards. To get the ball rolling, host Geoff Keighley has revealed via Twitter that the VGAs will not only play host to a new Alan Wake game, but also something new from EA BioWare.
"Also at the VGAs: Alan Wake returns and @Bioware unveils a new game from a new studio," tweeted Keighley.
Remedy confirmed back in May that more Alan Wake was on the way, but noted that it isn't a sequel, nor is it DLC.
"Fans of the franchise will be excited to learn that yes, more Wake is coming! But to be absolutely certain to avoid confusion, this next Wake instalment will not be Alan Wake 2. And neither will it be DLC," said Remedy's Oskari Hakkinen. "The rest we're saving for our official announcement when we'll actually show you."
And that announcement - presumably with a trailer - will be at this year's VGAs.
Little is known about the EA BioWare game, but both the Alan Wake and BioWare titles are set to appear in GameInformer's December issue ahead of the VGAs, with teaser images and a perhaps a few tidbits.
And that's not all! - Keighley also tweeted that "the truth" about the long awaited Metal Gear Solid: Rising will "finally be revealed" at the event by Hideo Kojima. Hopefully that means we'll finally get a release date.
The 2011 Spike TV's Video Game Awards is set to air on Monday, 12 December 2011.
