New Left 4 Dead 2 DLC to include community-shaped campaign

Valve has revealed that new downloadable content is on the way for zombie shooter Left 4 Dead 2, but instead of creating everything behind closed doors, the team has requested that the community get involved and help shape the final content.

Unlike the previous DLC - The Sacrifice and The Passing - the new content will not be story driven, but instead will just be new campaigns, or maps, for Left 4 Dead 2. So far Valve has confirmed that the map pack will include Dead Air, Blood Harvest and Death Toll from Left 4 Dead 1, with the final map coming from an as yet unfinished campaign created by PC modder Matthew Lourdelet (2 Evil Eyes), called Cold Stream. And this is where Valve want the community to get involved.

"In the next few weeks we will add Cold Stream to the UI (user interface) and we will all begin testing it. As we receive feedback and test data we will also share some data we collect on player experience and show how we put that data to use. We will include you with regular posts, polls, and updates," said Valve in a post on the official site.

And you can provide that feedback over on the official forums, with PC and Mac users getting a chance to beta test the campaign as it progresses through the development stages.

No word on an exact release date or pricing yet, but expect it "sometime after Portal 2".
